Probably the answer they were after tho' (not the EFB thing)...
And, in my experience, EFB only occurs in weak colonies so this might be beneficial there too.
I was a Steward but not for the lectures - maybe apply your derision to the rules rather than the volunteers who were following instructions. The majority of the punters are fine but there's always one or two clints who do the "do you know who I am?" thing.
I bought a hive steamer (there's one for sale on eBay right now) and steam them to get the wax out. Whilst still warm I strip out the old cocoons and wires and then pressure wash them - seems to work pretty well apart from really stubborn propolis. A quick scrape and then I resteam the frames...
Acid on a swarm? Ouch! Wouldn't icing sugar and quarantine be a better bet rather than p|ss them off as soon as they arrive in their new home?

DN1 or DN4 - Deep National frames are about 9" (8 7/8" to be precise) top to bottom so not what you needed. Obviously check with your supplier in case they call their 14" x 12" 'deep'...

Thanks everyone, especially Itma. I thought the Bradley was both a cold and hot smoker as it has a separate element in the bottom for hot smoking and the briquettes are effectively cooked on a small hotplate at the bottom to produce the smoke. Hopefully it will arrive tomorrow and the fun will...
