Just opened up the hive, there was 4 more queen cells, i crushed 2 of them and as i was checking the other 2 a new queen popped out of one of the cells, she vanished into the brood box, the last cell also had a queen in it, she also went straight into the brood box...... So as it stands, i have...

Hi, just been out to the hive and i noticed my marked queen was walking about on the lawn with around 15 bees with her. I promptly picked her up and put her into the entrance of the hive. Was this the right thing to do? is there a new queen? What could be the cause of this?:eek:

Just opened up the hive and found 4 queen cells, I only checked the hive 5 days ago and they wasn't there then. I have crushed the cells, was this the right thing to do? I noticed a couple of nights ago that there was a lot of bees around the entrance, do you think they were ready to swarm? .....

Thanks Gary, yes i have an open mesh floor. It was a scorcher here yesterday, so thats answered my question. All seems back to normal today......

Hi, had some unusual behaviour from my bees last night, i went into the kitchen around 10pm and theres two bees flying around, I caught them in a cup and returned them to the hive, as I shone my torch on the entrance to the hive, I could see alot of bees had congregated there, they seemed really...

I think i'm gonna put it underneath the hive, sheltered with a saucer.....

Bit of a mixed reaction, do i or don't i remove the ant bait station?

We are talking of alot of ants, they even have eggs in the roof space of the hive. I've already greased the legs of the hive stand but they somehow still manage to get through it.....
