It was me that bought the £6 refractometer and I have just put it in the amazon locker for return. The advert had loads of pictures of honey so I’m sure someone else will make my mistake again. I’ll read a bit more next time! Thanks everyone for your help

Just bought this under £7 and on prime. Doesn’t look any different to the others but I may have missed something https://www.amazon.co.uk/Refractometer-Accuracy-Measuring-Equipment-RHB-50ATC/dp/B08FBCDT4T/ref=mp_s_a_1_18?dchild=1&keywords=refractometer&qid=1623737676&sprefix=refr&sr=8-18

I was still committed after the theory and practical so went ahead and spent the...

    Buying a queen

I phoned Becky from Becky’s Bees a few weeks ago around lunch time. She gave me great advice and the queen arrived following morning. Really pleased with service and advice.

Maisemore bee nucs just so angry

Liam, I too have had a feisty colony and it is miserable. As a newbie it’s really important to enjoy the beekeeping and not dread it. I had to psyche myself up to inspect. Get on to Maisies and get it sorted because no supplier would knowingly sell you pingy bees, and will definitely want the...

    Extracted honey - now what?!

Pope pius there is a great post in the stickies section with recipes for all kinds of creams, polishes and things involving wax. I made beeswax wraps a couple of years ago and they are brilliant for storing cheese in the fridge. I added some resin to make them a bit sticky. The cheese doesn’t...
