What did you do in the 'workshop' today

I was also making these last week. Really pleased with the outcome as fit perfectly in the back of the pick up, quick and easy to assemble / level. I can fit three Langstroth hives on at a squeeze but prefer to put on two & use the space in between to place the roof & supers when inspecting. I...

    New book on Apideas

Same issue here - no longer able to login to Webinarninja to access the webinars I have previously paid for & attended. Seems to be forcing us to subscribe.

Instrumental Insemination training - looking for reference

Definitely interested and it looks like you had some great results. Who did you end up doing your training with in the end?

CBPV detecting sheep - fantastic! Please consider breeding from the flock and prepare to market them 😃

Many going to the National Honey Show?

Really enjoyed the Centenary show. Great to meet old friends and make new ones too. The quality of the lectures was fantastic and highlights for me were Mike Palmer’s Brood Factories talk and the Seasonal Management of Double Nucleus. Also Randy Oliver’s talks and Richard Noel’s Asian hornet...

Queen laying in mini nuc but not laying after introduction to nuc

It could be the nuc already had a virgin in it. She would kill your introduced mated queen & you saw her when inspecting. The fact she took to the wing is typical of a virgin queen.

    Summer harvest?

Starting today and aiming to have it all completed by this time next week. Looking like a below average summer crop for us but not bothered as spring crop was good and still have loads of honey from last year in store.

    Abelo 12 Frame to Langstroth

This season I have bought 200 Paradise Langstroth Professional 8 frame boxes and floors, roofs and have done Bailey comb changes from 14x12 to Langstroth. I like the hive design and the boxes actually take 9 frames without the need for dummy boards. I am using Langstroth deeps throughout for...

    The National Uncapper

I like the look of your design and would want to fix it to my existing Abelo Melliflow Pro. However, I am primarily now operating with Langstroth. Would you plan on offering your design for use with Langstroth in due course?

    Chronic Bee Paralysis

This was my most badly affected colony out of two with CBPV. The white varroa tray contains the swept up bees from in front & beneath the hive. Shocking how quickly it took hold and this colony is now barely a frame of bees:

    Chronic Bee Paralysis

I take two buckets with me in the car. One with washing soda solution to get off the wax & propolis. I then put the gloves in the second bucket which contains a bleach solution. When I have a bucket full they go through a quick wash in the machine before a drip dry and reuse. These are long cuff...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Thanks- dead bees swept up & floors removed. Will see what happens. Didn’t see lots of hairless, black or trembling bees hence didn’t think of CBPV.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Finally finished extraction of the spring crop which is fairly good at 530kg & very little OSR this season. Then discovered 3 colonies at an out apiary have been hit with what looks like a pesticide spraying incident 😡. Not the farmer as he only sprayed fungicide & gave me notice so the bees...

    50 - 100 cell incubators

I have used one of these for the last two seasons. Worked very well and trouble free. Just the right size for my requirements.
