Right. Had enough. Working in the garden moving some ladders some way away from the hive one of the guard bees decided to sting me under the arm, to go with the ne on the chin. Two more then followed me into the house and dived bombed me whilst I tried to sort the sting out. I think I will move...

I was planning on yeating them into next doors garden! (not really!) Unfortunately, the old disposed of queen was very prolific in her laying and within about a week had laid eggs on 4 frames, so still a lot of her genetics to go.

The story continues..... The unite worked, and the queen has been accepted. However, the hive is very, very angry. I can be sitting in the garden 20 yards away and bees bounce off me. On inspection today a great cloud of guard bees went on the attack, and I actually got stung on the face...

24 hrs before removing the tab so bees could eat their way though to her, maybe another 24 hrs before she escaped and I looked 24 hours after that. I think the farm I brought it off cadged her the day I brought her so 2 days?

Update - 12 days later! The old queen that was split into a new hive is laying well. The queen cells in there were taken down by the bees themselves - completely disappeared! Not sure if this is a bee thing or not, but pleased anyway. The Old, possibly Queen Lite, hive did not make any queen...

Thanks for all of the advice. The cell was smoother than the other queen cells I have seen. I fed the new hive because I was feeling sorry for them. All of the flying workers scooted off back to the original hive leaving nothing going in. It took about a week for the nurse bees to start...

Yes internet wisdom was we should not open our hives until it was warmer.

Hi all, 24 days ago we noticed our hive was extremely busy, and being a warmish day and fearing a swarm we went against all advice and opened it up to find it absolutely rammed with bees - Brood box and Super had bees on every frame plus two queen cells with eggs in them. We did a walk away...

Its been dark for three hours, raining and cold there is still about 100 of them sitting on the outside. To be fair, they don't usually sulk too much and are very placid. I hope they go in before getting too wet.

Well, they are royally annoyed with me. They are all sitting on the outside of the hive having a moan.
